Job: Editorial Manager

Location: Weehawken, NJ

The Syndicate is looking for an Editorial Manager to join the ranks of The Laugh Button – one of the most trusted voices in the world of comedy. We’re in search of a highly motivated self-starter, equipped with jaw dropping writing and editorial skills who has an insatiable appetite for comedy. Sound like you? This position provides a unique opportunity to work closely with all departments inside our marketing agency, alongside our entire team of rockstars based in Weehawken NJ.

Each day at our company is different from the last. That’s one of the things we love most, but some of the regular responsibilities for this position include:

  • Generate editorial content and concepts for The Laugh Button on a daily basis
  • Edit style, grammar and accuracy of all content in AP style
  • Manage content of social media platforms and newsletters
  • Grow and manage a team of freelance contributors
  • Develop and continue to define The Laugh Button’s editorial voice
  • Oversee website maintenance in CMS (Wordpress) and provide administrative support to the editorial staff
  • Track emerging trends in the digital and publishing space
  • Collaborate with all departments of The Syndicate to ideate new and exciting opportunities for our comedy clientele
  • Attend evening comedy shows in the greater NYC area on a regular basis.

  • Experience interviewing talent
  • Sharp and creative marketing mind
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Stamina to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Fierce drive to forge their place in a growing company

Skills & Experience:

  • Prior experience writing or reporting or an online media site
  • Working knowledge of
    • Wordpress CMS
    • Basic html and CSS
    • Google DFP
    • Email management systems such as Mailchimp
    • Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Premiere Pro, Audition & Dreamweaver)
  • A grasp of best SEO practices and techniques to help build traffic
  • Exposure to social media ad buying
  • Contacts within the comedy community
