Conflict Of Interest Austin 2012

Conflict Of Interest made its second appearance in Austin, TX on Tuesday, March 13, 2012 at the Hype Hotel Presented By Feed The Beat. Building upon last year’s inaugural COI Austin, the event boasted six of the most talked-about acts at SXSW and a DJ set by Live 105 Music Director Aaron Axelsen. The 850-person venue remained at capacity all night long with over 3,000 attendees throughout the evening.

Doors opened shortly after 7:30pm with fans, industry, bloggers, press, and more treated to DJ Aaron Axelsen spinning his favorites, The first full set of the night belonged to new Glassnote-signing Oberhofer. The band quickly won the hearts of all and kicked off their week as one of the most noted 2012 SXSW artists. Their album  Time Capsules II was released this past Tuesday, March 27, 2012 to rave reviews.

Next up, newcomers Incan Abraham ripped through new tracks and songs from their debut EP Ancient Vacation and guy/girl duo little hurricane blazed through a dirty set of garage rock-n-roll. With a brand new album Mia Pharoah to promote, Brooklyn’s Miniature Tigers mixed new material such as “Female Doctor” and the brilliant single “Sex On The Regular” together with classics from their previous efforts like “Bullfighter Jacket” and the Neon Indian produced “Gold Skull.”

Conflict Of Interest favorites Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. took the stage next and became the first artist to perform at three separate COI parties (New York 2010, Chicago 2011, and Austin 2012).

Finally, Delta Spirit celebrated the release of their self-titled album (out that same day) with amped-up, powerful renditions of songs like “Tear It Up” and set-closer “California.”

Throughout the evening, attendees were treated to their first taste of Taco Bell’s Doritos Locos Tacos.
